BOYD LAKE STATE PARK CAMPSITE

July 8, 2020

Good Morning from Loveland, CO,

When going to Boyd Lake State Park, my family and I didn’t know exactly what to expect. Between the beautiful mountain and awesome lakes of Colorado, this was a great location to be. Don’t get me wrong we loved our stay there but there are somethings that you want to know before you go.

1. There is no wifi

This may be something you are totally fine with, but as a digital nomad with not a ton of data I really struggled.

2. You have to pay for the showers

After a long day, you want to take a nice long shower, not in your tiny Rv shower but this is not the place to do it. When taking a shower it is a minimum of $1 for a 4-minute shower and then 25 cents for every minute after that. So prepare for short showers or bring lots of quarters.

3. You can’t actually see the water.

That campsite you booked online looking at the water actually has a bunch of trees blocking your view. We booked a site thinking that we would be able to see the water but the only thing we could see was the super nice walking trail and the trees surrounding the lake.

4. Have extra time

When going into the park you must check through a point which takes a very long time especially if it is the prime season. We waited over an hour just to get through to our campsite. It gets this crowded because people who are not coming for the campsite go through this entrance to put their boat in the lake. This makes for one long line.

5. Rent a boat

They have a really great place where you can rent a boat, pontoon, or jet ski and it is not that expensive. The beach can get crowded but having a boat to coast around the lake is definitely something you should look into.

See you soon

xoxo Gina
