BLUE LAKE HIKE

August 29, 2020

Good Morning from the mountains of Colorado!

Blue lake is something you shouldn’t miss in Colorado. The hike is about 3 miles each way, 6 miles total. This may not see like much but it is not all a flat walking trail. There is an easy trail from the parking lot into which leads into the main hiking trail. When you start the actual hike there is a lot of ups and downs throughout the trail. It is not particularly hard but it is not just a walk. Due to all the changes in elevation and the uneven trial, it took my parents and I 6 hours to make it to the lake. We stoped for pictures quite a lot but it was still no walk in the park. I do think that this hike is a very doable hike for many levels, but give yourself more time that you think you may need. Also make sure to bring lots of water and some snacks because you will need it.

Overall the hike is incredible. There are places to stop on the way such as other lakes and mountain views that will get you the perfect pictures. The trail itself is super gorgeous and has a lot of very “picture perfect” spots to stop.

When you arrive at the lake it is so incredible. The water is so blue but I would not recommend jumping in. Rocky Mountain national Park often still has snow in middle of summer and there was lots when we went in June.

Be sure to check out this great hike but as always leave only footprints. Don’t leave any trace that you were there.

See You Soon

xoxo Gina
