Good Morning from Hawaii!
Oahu is one of the most popular islands to travel to in Hawaii because it is home to the capital, Honolulu.
When I went to Hawaii we started on the island of Oahu by going to Disney. Be sure to check out that post HERE to see if Disney would be something you would like to check out as well.
Now let’s look at Honolulu!

Where to Stay
There are lots of places to stay between hotels and Airbnb’s. There are many hotels near the water but I highly recommend Airbnb that we stayed in. It was a small studio apartment but the view of the city and the ocean and the mountains was so insane. It was worth not having an oceanfront place.
2. Waikiki Beach
There are many beaches all over the island that I recommend more than Waikiki but this is an easy one right near all the shops and restaurants to soak up a bit of sun and get some good food as well. I only don’t recommend this beach because it is the most popular on the island, therefore it is incredibly busy at all times of the day.
3. Shopping
There are lots of generic shopping in the Honolulu area but there are also lots of boutiques and swimsuit shops with a visit.
4. Get Shaved Ice
Hawaii is known for its shaved ice. If you are like me and love both ice cream and ice drinks, you will love this. They have stands all over to get some of the famous shaved ice. It is a sow cone but with ice cream on the bottom and abut double the size. So good!
5. Restaurants
Do be sure to eat at some of the wonderful restaurants around town, and don’t pass up the seafood. Many places offer fresh fish and it is extra yummy.
On to the Island!

Diamond Head State Park
This is a hike that my family never got around to but it is worth the view. It is such an amazing hike and the photos look gorgeous. Always remember if you are going to go into nature to only leave footprints.
2. Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay
This I did when I was touring with Semester at Sea and it was so much fun. There are many places that you can go snorkeling even ones that take you to see turtles but if you are looking for a place right off the beach that is inexpensive be sure to check out Hanauma Bay.
3. Scuba Diving
I did not personally go scuba diving but I know there are lots of great opportunities to if that is something you want to do.
4. Laniakea (Turtle) Beach
This beach is famous for all the hundreds of year old turtles that come onto the beach to bake in the sun. Some days there will be 1 some there could be 20 so don’t be discouraged i you don’t see too many. When I went there were only 2 and they have ropes on the sand around then so people do not invade their personal space.
5. Pearl Harbor
Another famous place to take a tour of is Pearl Harbor. The museum is fascinating along with all of the ship and military vehicles in the area.
I hope that you have a fabulous time in Oahu!
See You Soon
xoxo Gina
